Documentary Approach: Photographing Concerns

Documentary Approach: Photographing Concerns

12.00

Instructing artist: Michael Curtis Asbill

NOVEMBER 7th, 7:30pm - 9:30pm

This workshop is designed for students who are interested in socially engaged or socially motivated projects. As contributors to public media platforms, photographers have an opportunity to bring attention to issues that affect them and their communities. How do you make a photograph of a social issue? How do you activate photographs with research? In this workshop, we will practice photographing the world around us, and the issues that we face as residents of our local and global communities. We will also practice research methods that can help provide direction for documentary art projects.

Materials needed: A camera (even your iphone can work!), a sketchbook or notebook for taking notes and creative thought processing.
